ASCAR Cinema is a leading distributor in Kazakhstan, releasing over 200 films a year on screen. The company's slate features films from Hollywood majors, independent studios, and local filmmakers.
The company also distributes films in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
It all began in 2001 with a VHS and DVD distribution contract with Columbia Pictures. The first release was Men in Black on VHS.
In 2007, the company commenced film distribution activities by signing a direct agreement with Walt Disney Studios Sony Pictures Releasing.
